Wondering what is Leaping Bunny and how it affects Aveda products? If you’re here, you already know a thing or two about the company and
why you should use Aveda products.
There’s a reason why we at Salon Cabelo like them, the products are sustainable and nature-friendly, and they provide excellent hair care for our clients. What’s not to like? Our hairdressers in Farnham and Fleet are always happy to use or recommend Aveda products.
And now, Aveda has reached the next milestone in its mission to care for the Earth and all its inhabitants. The company has opposed animal testing since its founding in 1978. Finally, almost 45 years later, they’ve managed to expand their commitment to animal welfare by attaining Leaping Bunny Approval.
The Leaping Bunny Program is an internationally-recognized cruelty-free certification program for cosmetics, personal care, and household products. It was founded in 1996 by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC). The CCIC is a coalition of eight national animal protection organisations in the United States. The primary goal of the Leaping Bunny Program is to end animal testing for cosmetic and personal care products worldwide.
The program requires companies to pledge that they do not conduct, commission, or pay for any animal tests on their ingredients or products anywhere in the world. The Leaping Bunny logo is given to products that meet this criterion. So these products are considered "cruelty-free."
Currently, over 600 companies have been certified by the Leaping Bunny Program, including major brands like Lush, The Body Shop, Paul Mitchell, and now Aveda.
The Leaping Bunny Program is widely recognised as the most rigorous animal testing standard in the world. It is the only internationally-recognized certification program for cruelty-free products, and it is trusted by consumers around the globe.
In order to obtain Leaping Bunny Approval, Aveda submitted to a rigorous audit by Cruelty Free International. This review certifies that Aveda does not test its products and ingredients on animals during any of the steps of product development and manufacturing. This includes sourcing, so you can be sure Aveda takes care that even its most basic raw materials are obtained ethically.
What’s more, Aveda also verified that all of its suppliers and manufacturers comply with Leaping Bunny criteria.
As a Leaping Bunny Approved-brand, Aveda also agrees to be independently audited every 12 months. This ensures ongoing compliance. In addition, the company will have to recommit to the program annually. These two points are significant differentiators of the Leaping Bunny Programme. They’re what makes it unique among cruelty-free certifiers. Attaining this certification is a monumental step in Aveda’s cruelty-free journey – and an exciting milestone in the brand’s mission of care.
For us, things remain more or less the same, except we get to smile even more when we look at the shelves containing Aveda products. Our Fleet and Farnham hairdressers have been using Aveda products already, and they will continue to do so.
If you want to purchase something without leaving your home, you can do that through
